Discuss, share files, use AI in one place using LaTeX or Clean Editor mode.
Collab-Writer is a shared workspace for your document writing (academic, work or school project). Everyone drafts in the same document, shares references, comments, and the version history — so the document is always the document. Oh, and you can bring your AI tools!
Write documents together. Discuss in the margins, not by email.
Typing shows up as it happens, with each author's cursor named in the margin. No merging two versions at midnight, no file called final-final-v3. The document your supervisor opens is the document you are writing.
Connect a model by API key or hand the document to an agent. It works on the real text, not a copy pasted into a chat window — and each author connects the AI they prefer, so one of you can draft with one model while another reviews with a different one.
Every change is kept and attributed. Compare two points in time, see what moved, and restore a paragraph you deleted three weeks ago — a full record of how the argument actually got made.
Cite by search, and the bibliography builds itself from your own Zotero or Mendeley library. Change the style once and the whole document follows; nobody renumbers anything by hand.
Write in LaTeX with a live preview beside the source, or in a plain visual editor that behaves the way a word processor does. Same document either way — so the person who thinks in macros and the person who just wants to type can work on the same document.
Export a clean PDF for circulation or the source files for a submission portal. Nothing is locked in a format only we can read — the project leaves the same way it arrived.
Two connections, both free to set up, neither of them a subscription we resell back to you.
Sign in to your account and your whole library becomes searchable inside the editor. Cite from it as you write, and the bibliography assembles itself in the style the journal wants. Add a paper to Zotero on the train and it is there in the draft when you open it — the sync runs both ways, and group libraries come with it, so a lab shares one set of sources instead of six.
Paste an API key, or point Collab Writer at an agent you already run, and it works inside the document — tightening a paragraph, checking a proof, summarising what changed since Tuesday. We charge nothing for the connection and take no cut of your usage: the key is yours, the model is your choice, and it can be switched off per project when a draft should stay untouched.
Start blank or from a template for an article, a thesis chapter or a grant application. It opens in the browser, on any machine you happen to be at.
Send one link. Give each person editing rights or comment-only access — useful when a reviewer should have opinions but not fingers on the text.
Draft, argue, revise. When it is finished, export the PDF or the source and send it where it needs to go. The project stays put for the next round of reviews.

They need one to edit, and it takes a minute. A read-only link works for anyone you just want to show the draft to.
You do. We store your documents so you can work on them; we do not claim rights over them and we do not train anything on them.
Any time, on any plan. Download a PDF or the full source of a project, including figures and the bibliography, in one file.
Both edits land. The document reconciles them as they arrive, so there is no lock, no queue and nothing to resolve afterwards.
A dropped connection is fine on any plan: keep writing and it syncs when you reconnect. For working with no connection at all, Pro adds desktop sync, which mirrors a project to local .tex files or a folder you can edit in your own app and sync back later.
No. Connect your own API key or your own agent and use it as much as you like — we add nothing on top, on any plan.
Yes. The free plan does not expire, needs no card and is not a trial. It covers one project and a team of up to three, with your references and your own AI. When a project outgrows that, Pro lifts the limits for $5 a month, and nothing forces the upgrade.
Open a project, send the link to your co-authors, and see how the first afternoon goes. Nothing to install and nothing to cancel.
